Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Newchurch in Pendle
Today's walk started at 15:00hrs from Pownall's Mill in Spen Brook and the first ascent is this one towards Newchurch in Pendle. Rather than walk through the village, I went off to the right and up through Barley Bank Wood.
Pendle Hill
It's rather unfortunate but the suggestion by the weather people that East Lancashire might enjoy afternoon sunshine is looking inaccurate.
Heys Lane
Heys Lane links Roughlee to Barley and I'm heading for Barley in the dip.
Lower Ogden Reservoir
From Barley it's up onto Barley Hill, taking me above the Ogden Reservoirs. Then on towards Ogden Hill which is the little bump on the lower southern flank of Pendle Hill.

Pendle Paths
My route joins the upcoming track from Pendle House and after a steady climb from Barley, I'm nearly at Pendle Summit.

Upper Ogden Reservoir
I nodded at a runner on the summit and then it was just me all the way back to the car. My route took me on a climb through Fell Wood and then down across fields to Newchurch and onto Spen Brook.
Pendle Sunset
Always better viewed from the summit, nevermind.
Spen Brook
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 3 hours 12mins over a distance of about 7 miles.
Route: Spen Brook, Barley Bank, Heys Lane, Barley, Barley Hill, Ogden Hill, Pendle Hill, The Flags, Ogden Clough, Fell Wood, Newchurch, Spen Brook.
Weather and conditions: Cloudy and calm, not cold. I carried no rucksac or waterproofs.
Greetings Count: I passed a couple descending Ogden Hill and a runner on top and that was just about that.
Take me back to the start ....
